When infrastructure engineer Elias Vane dies under impossible circumstances in Corianth’s Dream, Detective Ryan Garfield is sent to investigate what should have been a straightforward murder. Instead, he finds erased records, hidden traces inside the Grid and evidence that someone powerful wants the dead man’s secrets to stay buried.
With the help of an eccentric underground hacker known as Moth, Ryan follows a trail that leads far beyond a single murder. Someone is watching him. Someone else seems determined to help him dig deeper. And somewhere beneath the digital world billions of people take for granted lies something that was never meant to be found.
The closer Ryan gets to the truth, the less certain the boundaries between the Grid and reality become - and the people protecting that truth have already proven they are willing to kill for it.

WELCOME TO 2063
Humanity didn't rebuild the world. It built upward.
Vast metroplexes stretch toward the sky, separating wealth from poverty by hundreds of levels. Technology has become inseparable from everyday life, while the Grid connects billions of people to a digital reflection of the world around them.
Corianth's Dream is one of civilization's greatest achievements - clean, ordered and impossibly advanced.
At least on the surface.
MEET RYAN GARFIELD
Detective Ryan Garfield has spent most of his career dealing with the kind of crimes nobody wants to look at for too long.
He's stubborn, cynical and far more comfortable following evidence than playing politics. A damaged cybernetic arm and an old-fashioned approach to police work don't exactly make his life easier, either.
When the death of Elias Vane brings him to Corianth's Dream, Ryan expects another murder investigation.
It doesn't stay one for long.
SOMEONE IS WATCHING
Records disappear. Evidence leads to places that shouldn't exist. Anonymous messages push Ryan deeper while unseen observers follow every step he takes.
The question is no longer simply who killed Elias Vane.
Someone wanted Vane silenced. Someone else wants Ryan to discover why.
And neither side seems particularly interested in introducing themselves.
ALLIES IN STRANGE PLACES
Ryan isn't entirely alone.
His investigation brings him together with people from opposite ends of Corianth's Dream - including Mire, a medical examiner who knows considerably more about technology than Ryan would sometimes like, and Moth, an eccentric underground hacker with an affinity for obsolete hardware and places the Grid has forgotten.
In a city built on secrets, knowing whom to trust may become just as important as knowing where to look.

Everyone knows the Grid.
It is communication, information, entertainment and infrastructure. An entire digital world woven into everyday life so completely that most people have stopped wondering how it works.
Ryan starts wondering.
